If you're a regular visitor to my blog (not simply reading posts sent by e-mail), you may notice there's an element missing from my page. I removed the Google ads from below my "about me" section. A couple reasons for this:
1. I never felt right about advertising on my blog, particularly since I had no clue or control of what Google was putting up there.
2. Since adding the tool about 16 months ago, I made a grand total of $0.96. Clearly blogging will not pay my student loan debt simply through ads.
3. They just introduced "interest-based" ads, which means that every visit to my blog would gear be a little note that would gear the visitor to some kind of category. I'm not sure how my blog would be classified, but maybe visitors would be characterized as "religious" and future ads on my site and others would be of that nature. It just seemed to invasive, so out it goes.
I hope you enjoy your advertising-free Sunlight and Shadows. Although I do know bloggers who add a PayPal button for free will offerings...what do ya'll think? Are my meandering musings worth supporting monetarily? (I won't be offended if the answer is no!)
